We are Jay and Suzanne Thomson, married for (many) years, parents of 12 (nearly) grown children, and we… are completely different from each other.

Interjection- “We,” above, is stated as if Jay and Suzanne are actually writing this, when in fact it is their 5th daughter, Naomi, writing it for them. That said, I’m going to switch into some more comfortable writing shoes to finish my introduction to who they are…

Mom and Dad love people. They have demonstrated that in how they have raised their 12 children, 10 girls (and “all the rest boys,” as dad likes to say), and in their endless hospitality to anyone we’d ever meet. All of my life I can remember them opening our home to feed and care for many, many people, and it’s always been a dream of theirs to host more people than our home has ever been large enough to fit.

In January of 2017, my parents finally decided to ignore their limitations and make that long held desire they had into reality, inviting people to come over every Sunday for a healthy, homemade meal and some good, solid Bible teaching. Their “Totally different from each other-ness” creates a perfect blend: Mom loves cooking, and Dad loves to talk about Jesus, whom they both love with their lives. Their common love for the Lord and their different gifts together make hospitality a perfect avenue for them to share their gifts and joys with others. This is how Hospitality Sunday, the home version, came to be.

Now for the internet version: Why stop with the number of people our house can fit? The internet seems big enough to host more, does it not? So Hospitality Sunday, the blog version, has been born as well!

Please consider yourself invited to Hospitality Sunday; we want you to feel welcome, to leave fed, and to know that you’re valuable. The Lord loves you dearly, and we hope and pray that you will know it.
